She’s done it... Sophie reached the summit of K2, the second-highest peak in the world (8,611m), this morning, 21 July, at 8:15 local time.

Setting out on 16 July, she spent the first night at camp 1 (6,070m), then the night of 17 July at C2, she reached C3 on 18 July, where she spent an extra night as the ropes on the Bottleneck (a narrow couloir overhung by seracs) had not all been fixed yet, and reached Camp 4 (7,615m) on 20 July to set out at 8pm for the summit push.

Tonight, Sophie is back at base camp after descending over 3,600m.

We need to wait 2 or 3 days to get the detailed account and hopefully some photos.
Sleep well Sophie!
