We have recently observed a new trend in which funds in other jurisdictions have relocated their fund structures into an EU fund jurisdiction. Regulatory and market impending impacts such as the AIFM Directive have pushed this perception even further.

In addition to the above mentioned effect, more fund managers and sponsors seek to get access to clients in Europe, one of the most interesting and safest fund markets in the world.

Other reasons why a Fund would want to change the domicile could also be the lack of service providers and offering at the current location or the additional requirements set forth by the new institutional investors which tend to use the EU AIFMD brand as prescreening selection criteria in their investment due diligence process.
